WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – The police are reporting that a major operation in sections of the Westmoreland Division has resulted in a number persons being arrested.

Reports are that the operation began about 5:00 am on Friday, and led to the arrest of 40 persons including 15 women. All are awaiting charges to be laid following an interview in the presence of their attorneys, the police said early Saturday.

The operation took place in a number of areas including: Grange Hill, Dexter Street, Cooke Street and Farm District in Llandilo as well as a number of other communities.

It is said that a number of premises were searched and some of the items seized include:

Ten motor vehicles (including two SUV’s)

JMD $475,000.00

Over CAD $800.00

Laptops

Cellular phones

Tablets

Lottery scamming paraphernalia (including lead sheets)
