ATLANTA (AP) — Federal immigration authorities say they arrested 60 people in a targeted five-day operation in metro Atlanta, the Augusta area and northwest Georgia.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a news release Wednesday that officers made the arrests of the foreign citizens from June 14-18.

ICE says 17 of those arrested meet the agency’s highest priority level because they had prior felony convictions or are members of a criminal street gang. The agency says the remaining 43 meet its second level of priorities for enforcement because they have serious or multiple misdemeanor convictions
