A father accused of biting his child had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court, last Thursday.

Charged with child abuse is a 47-year-old labourer from Kingston.

Allegations are on May 16 at approximately 11 a.m., the father and the complainant, who is his daughter, were at home when she told her younger sibling, who is also the accused man’s son, to wash dishes.

The court was told that when the male child refused, the daughter hit him with a small belt. It was also heard the accused caught wind of the occurrence after hearing his son’s cries. The court further heard the father then began to bite the child in her palm, and inadvertently hit her face against a wall causing wounds to her lips.
