Hull City is the latest English Premier League club to declare an interest in signing 19-year-old Jamaican star Leon Bailey in the January transfer window.Hull is reportedly preparing to submit a bid of £10.3 million, but Belgian side Genk – who Bailey represents – reportedly value their prized winger at £20 million.
“We’ll try (to sign him),” the club’s coach, Marco Silva reportedly told journalists in England on Wednesday. “It’s not an easy deal, but we’ll try.”
Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Roma and Bayer Leverkusen are among the other clubs that are reportedly preparing to submit bids for the much sought-after player.
Interests in Bailey have heightened with the teen scoring eight times in 35 appearances this season, with seven of his goals coming in the Europa League competition.
Bailey, a former Kingston College Student who scooped the prestigious Best Young Player award in Belgium last season, will no doubt be advised to wait for a leading side to come in as he should be aiming to move to a club that can offer European football.
The former Kingston College student won the award for Best Young Player in Belgium last year. He has represented Jamaica at the Under-23 level but has no caps for the national side.
