Consideration is reportedly being given for an early resumption of the granting of permissions for entertainment events, which were provisionally restricted in Westmoreland.
This was revealed by head of the Westmoreland police, Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP David White.’
Following an upsurge of violence last year, which saw a record 110 murders in the parish, the police placed a ban on entertainment events, in communities which accounted for a high level of violence.

DSP White noted that during the height of the challenging period children were not allowed to play outdoors in some of the troubled communities.
But, he predicted that within a few months there will be a significant decline in crime in the parish.
